Buddhadeb joins Pawar in ‘wrong belief club’ about Gujarat opposition
Ahmedabad, 25 December, 2010

Just on 17th of this month central Agriculture minister and Nationalist Congress Party Chief Sharad Pawar speaking at the annual general meeting of Vasantdada Sugar Institute at Manjri near Pune said: “If we look at Gujarat, the government, the Opposition and the media, all are together encouraging development there. I think you should also do a similar thing here.”
Okay, and look what West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee said yesterday in Calcutta at the opening of the Industrial India Trade Fair. The WB Chief Minister said:”Every political party has its own ideology. But when it comes to industrialization and development, all the parties cooperate… like in Gujarat and Maharashtra. But unfortunately, in this part of the country, the Opposition is opposing everything”
Now the question is, how true this impression is? Does Gujarat Congress support the ruling government’s drive to attract investment at all? No way!!
Before last Vibrant Gujarat Gobal Investors Summit, Gujarat Congress leader Shankarsinh Vaghela had said that the industrialists should not go to near to the Gujarat government, and they should keep in mind who’s ruling in centre, and how that could affect them.
If there was an issue between local farmers and Nirma’s upcoming cement plant in Mahuva, it was the Gujarat Congress that joined the locals(including local BJP MLA) in that movement.
Gujarat Congress has of course opposed the sops given to Tata Motors for Nano unit in Sanand.
When GSPC was all set to come out with IPO, the opposition leader of Gujarat Shaktisinh Gohil organized more than one press conference to tell the people that they should stay far from this IPO.
In a latest development Mr. Gohil has sent a letter to the central Finance Ministry requesting Income Tax department’s vigil on those who sign MOU with the Gujarat government in upcoming Vibrant Gujarat summit in January 2011.
While there are so many examples of Congress doing spoiler’s jon in Gujarat, it is not understood how Sharad Pawar and Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee are under impression that in Gujarat, the opposition party works in partnership with the government in the area of development.
Perhaps Modi’s drums are so loud that the tiny and now tinier opposition in the state is unheard, and nobody takes note of it. Perhaps due to this reason only, the opposition leader has to shout against BJP by doubling his voice at the Congress plenary session to prove that he is a pure and loyal Congress man and not ‘B’ wing of ruling BJP in Gujarat as it is believed widely outside the state. In that case the speech of Gujarat’s opposition leader at Congress plenary session is interesting and presented below. Pawar, Buddha watching?
