On Modi’s request Jamalpur over bridge to be named after Ashok Bhatt

A new over bridge being constructed by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, over city’s busy Jamalpur junction, which is likely to open next month, will be named after former Gujarat Assembly Speaker and MLA of Khadia late Shri Ashok Bhatt.

While inaugurating the Kankaria Carnival today in Ahmedabad today evening, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in his public speech requested the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation to name Jamalpur over bridge after Shri Ashok Bhatt who “served this city for six decades”. The AMC immediately accepted the Chief Minister’s request.

The Chief Minister opened Santaram water plant through remote control during the ceremony. He also announced that a new Kids city will be added to Kankaria lakefront during the Kankaria Carnival. He said once Kankaria was a place for suicide, but now it is a place of joy and pleasure. Modi said total 90 lakh people have visited Kankaria lake in last two years which is double compare to entire population of Ahmedabad.

Meanwhile famous TV serial Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma’s leading actors joined the inaugural parade in their TV serial gate up. They enjoyed different rides including boating and balloon among others. A parade with tableau was held to mark the opening of third edition of Kankaria Carnival. The carnival will continue till 31st of December.Entry will be free during this period for all. Various stage events, lighting, and other activities will go on in this period.
