Subramaniam Swamy says PAC better than JPC to check 2G scam

Janata Party President Shri Subramaniam Swamy today said that the opposition parties should negotiate and find some respectful way to come out of JPC issue “which has become a prestige issue for them now.”

Swamy hinted that Public Account Committee(PAC) was better option compare to Joint Parliamentary Committee(JPC) to check the 2G scam.

“JPC on 2G scam will have Congress MP as its Chairman,” Swami said this speaking at Ahmedabad replying to a question during interaction with the audience in his public speech programme.

“Moreover there will be more Congress MPs in JPC percentage wise,” He added.

Swamy said JPC will just go through witnesses and documents, and ultimately it will have no power to prosecute.

“I have more documents on 2G scam not then CBI might be having. JPC would not be able to throw light on any new thing related to 2G scam,” Swamy said.

“Public Account Committee(PAC) is headed by opposition member as per rule, and currently Mr. Murli Manohar Joshi is heading it. Moreover there is proportion wise representation of parties in this committee which is already formed” Swamy said adding that while PAC is already formed, JPC will be formed from the start which would provide opportunity(to UPA) to choose its members.

Swamy said JPC could be good if it was formed earlier and added that the opposition should find respectable way to come out of this JPC issue which has become now an issue of prestige.

“Sonia Gandhi wants JPC to humiliate Manmohan Singh so that he leave his post and some new person can be brought replacing him. This is the reason why opposition is being provocated by Congress,” Swamy said.

He said the BJP is in fix now because on one side Mr. Joshi is heading PAC, and on other side they have gone far demanding JPC.
