Torrent, Adani donate crores to Congress party, Rajkot’s man is top donor of BJP nationwide

According to a very interesting article published in The Hindu, the Gujarat based Torrent Power Limited has donated Rs.25 crore to India’s ruling Congress party. Another Gujarat based company Adani Enterprises has donated Rs. 15 crore.

According to same report, the biggest benefactor of BJP in year 2008-09 was Gujarat’s Rajkot based Popatbhai Ukabhai Vekariya who pumped Rs. 5 crore into party’s coffers.

Strangely there’s no clue who is this Popatbhai. He is not wellknown to most of the influential Rajkotians we talked to.(The great Akila journalists please help in this!)
