Gujarat and Rajasthan officials meet to resolve boundary dispute
Ahmedabad, 5 January, 2011
Revenue officials of Gujarat and Rajasthan today met to sort out the long pending boundary dispute between the two states, and completed the tallying of survey on the land dispute.
According to District Inspector Land Record (DILR) Sabarkantha B V Bilwal, “Now the district collectors of Udaipur in Rajasthan and Sabarkantha in Gujarat will be meeting at Himmatnagar shortly to finalise the land issue pending since last several decades.”
An ultra modern electric total station instrument based technology is being used for the first time in determining the boundary areas, he said.
The survey work began at Mathasara village in Khedbrahma taluka of Sabarkantha district and Mahadi village in Kotra taluka of Udaipur in Rajasthan.
“The boundary dispute has been pending since the separation of Gujarat from Bombay province. Several politicians, including local MLAs have been raising the issue in the state Assembly from time to time,” MLA from Khedbrahma Ashwin Kotwal said.
He said he had met the Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and brought to his notice the grievances of the residents in bordering villages of the state.
