Congress protests ban on autos, hawkers during Vibrant in Gandhinagar

Gujarat Congress’s Gandhinagar unit today submitted a memorandum to district collector opposing governmen’s decision to ban street hawkers and movement of rickshaws within Gandhinagar during Vibrant Gujarat summit.

The Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee ( GPCC) general secretary Nishit Vyas alleged that the BJP government, especially chief minister Narendra Modi, has banned the movement of rickshaws in the city and has asked the police to remove all hawkers from the streets. Vyas said the Gandhinagar congress gave a memorandum to the concerned officials, seeking to allow rickshaws to ply and also permit street hawkers to carry out business on the streets. He said that if the government refused to lift the ban, the Congress will take to the streets and protest. He alleged that Modi has ordered to chop over 5,000 trees for Mahatma Mandir’s construction. He said that on one hand the government was organising Garib Kalyan Melas, while on the other, it has displaced over 1,000 poor families from sector 13 in Gandhinagar.

Through memorandum, the party also demanded to improve law and order situation, and cancellation of charges in Civil hospital of Pathikashram.
