EC halts AMC demolition drive before Khadia by-election

Gujarat Election Commission has taken a decision to stop demolition drive of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation in view of Khadia assembly by-election.
The Election Commission believes that demolition drive in wall city area might affect law and order situation just before Khadia by-election.
The Commission has asked AMC to carry out any demolition work only after getting permission from the district collector.
It should be mentioned here that the Khadia assembly by-election is scheduled on 14th of February.
