Gujarat MPs are not united when it comes to issues with centre
One of the ministers representing Gujarat in centre, but not attending the meeting to discuss state’s issues with centre for political reasons

Gujarat’s all party Member of parliaments meeting is being held at Gandhinagar today. The meeting is called by Chief Minister Narendra Modi. This is routine meeting that is generally called before parliament session once every year to discuss how Gujarat MPs can put forward the issues related to Gujarat in parliament during the session. All Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs are invited in this meeting.

So when such meeting is called, you can be sure that Congress MPs of Gujarat would either boycott the meeting, or them will fight with the Chief Minister in angry voice during the meeting, and ultimately walk out.

Talking about today’s meeting, the Congress MPs are boycotting it citing reason that Modi plays politics and unnecessarily criticizes the Congress lead UPA when it comes to issues of Gujarat with central government.

It should be mentioned here that Gujarat has representation of three junior ministers in central government, and their presence in such meeting with positive attitude and cordial nature can be realy fruitful, but none of them would remain present in today’s meeting. That’s reality.

It is clearly visible that party politics is hindering the spirit of unity of Gujarat MPs when it comes to put forward the issues of Gujarat with centre.

Last year such meeting was held in second week of February at Gandhinagar circuit house. Congress MPs attended the meet but they first started attacking the state government and then walked out. Read what happened in that meet:

“Why do you invite us to such meeting without sending an agenda along with the invitation? We can study the issues before coming here if you send agenda,” asked Dinsha Patel, central Minister of state. Another central Minister Tushar Chaudhary supported Dinsha’s remark and added: “The Chief Minister in one of the Garib Melas said that I was delaying one file about sanctioning of Rs 300 crore aid to tribal people of Gujarat. If the Chief Minister can show existence of such file, I am ready to sign it today. If there is no such file, Chief Minister should resign.” The member of parliament from Dahod, Prabha Taviyad also jumped in a discussion and asked why she was prevented to attend Garib Kalyan Mela in her constituency when she was invited for the same. When BJP MP Purushottam Rupala passed comment against such attacking postures of Congress in the meeting that was held to discuss Gujarat’s problems with centre, the Congress MPs said the UPA government had helped Gujarat 10 times more compare to NDA government, then why the Chief Minister was speaking lies against the UPA government.”

Coming to year 2009’s similar meeting which was held in second week of June. None of the Congress MPs turned up at a meeting. The reason they described was that they had received invitation just two days before, and invitation was not containing the detailed agenda of the meeting.
