Gujarat’s oldest sitting MLA announces retirement from politics, and worldly life
Valsad, 13 February, 2011

Gujarat’s oldest MLA Valsad’s Dolatbhai Desai has announced his retirement from politics and also from worldly life. He will also adopt a new name ‘Dolatanand’ after retiring from worldly life. None other but Shri Dolatbhai himself announced this in local BJP meeting at Umargam on the occasion of Pandit Dindayal Upadhyay’s anniversary.
Highly popular due to his clear cut speaking and simple nature, the five-time elected MLA Dolatbhai in his speech during this programme said: “I am not 82-year old and I want to retire from politics now. Please don’t assign me any responsibility as I don’t want to take any responsibility now.”
Dolatbhai this statement shocked the BJP workers present in the meeting. But this was just beginning, as Dolatbhai then said: “Now onwards I would be known as Dolatanand and not Dolatbhai. Those party workers who want to meet me will have to take appointment of Dolatanand.”
