BJP victory due to sympathy, lowered margin Congress's success:Vaghela

Former Gujarat Chief Minister, ex-Union minister and Congress leader Shri Shankarsinh vaghela reacting on Khadia by-poll result today said that he was happy that BJP’s margin of victory in Khadia was lowered compared to year 2007 assembly poll.

“Ashok bhatt was towering personality of Khadia, and as he died and his son contested the election, it was obvious that he could get sympathy and therefore could get good number of vote, however we are happy that even in such situation we could lower down the margin of victory,” Vaghela said.

It should be mentioned here that in 2007 general assembly election, late Shri Ashok Bhatt had been victorious in Khadia with margin of around 9000 votes. Today in his absence his son Bhushan Bhatt has been victorious with thin margin of around 2400 votes.

Bhushan however says that due to fixing between the election commission and Congress party, the poll was given on working day instead of Sunday, which resulted into lower percentage of voting(51%), and therefore victory margin was affected.

BJP leader, Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service(AMTS) Chairman and former Mayor Amit Shah who was once having his house in Khadia later shifted to west Ahmedabad’s Vasna area. His son is engaged with Bhushan Bhatt’s daughter. Shah said lowered margin was due to migration of thousands of people of Khadia to west parts of Amdavad during recent years.
