Two Gujarati surnames ‘Gandhi’ and ‘Patel’ virtually ruled India, and are ruling

In the middle of last century, India was virtually run by two persons Gandhi and Patel(Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Patel). More than sixty years later, today the country is still being run by same two Gujarati surnames: Gandhi and Patel, but the names are different. Gandhi is Sonia Gandhi while Patel is Ahmed Patel.

Ahmed Patel is Gujarati Muslim from central Gujarat’s Bharuch area. Gujarati speaking Sunni Bohra Patel, Ahmed Patel was offered ministry birth in early 80s by then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, but he refused. Indira’s son and successor Rajiv Gandhi also offered Patel to join central ministry in cabinet rank, but Patel refused.

From then till now, Patel continues to refuse any offer to become minister. He only likes to work in party’s organization.

Patel has amazing hold over Congress party’s central organization, thanks to his proximity to the central leadership of the party. He is Political Adviser of India’s ruling Congress party supremo Sonia Gandhi. In New Delhi’s political circle, Patel is known for meeting the people in late hours of night. It is said that he can give you an appointment of 2.00 am or may be 3.00 am, and you would still feel yourself lucky to meet one of the most powerful man in India, so far as the government is concerned.

It is said that CBI’s long drive in Gujarat’s Sohrabuddin case, and subsequent arrest of then minister of state for Home Shri Amit Shah was cooked at Ahmed Patel’s bungalow. Gujarat’s High Court Bar Association Chief Yatin Oza who was once with the Congress party had said this openly adding that he was also present int hat meeting.

It is also said that when Ahmed Patel visited Saudi Arabia for Hajj last year, the Indian Muslims settled in middle east met him in a large group, and demanded action against Gujarat’s Modi government. Soon after this, the impact was seen on the ground, and Amit Shah’s arrest followed.
