Ahmedabad-Virar third line survey best news for Gujarat

There are some really major good news for Gujarat in railway budget 2011-12 announced by central Railway minister Mamata Banerjee today.

Look at the first and the most important news for Gujarat in this budget. The idea of erecting the third railway line between Ahmedabad and Mumbai is now one-step closer to reality.

As per the budget speech, the Railway ministry will take up Doubling surveys of third line between Ahemdabad and Virar(Mumba) in 2011-12. This means if all go well, the Ahmedabad-Mumbai route will get third railway line.

Presently there are two railway lines between Ahmedabad and Mumbai which is one of the busiest routes of Indian railway. Demand of one more line is pending for many years due to growing burden of traffic on existing railway lines. It is good news that the ministry is starting something in this direction lately by proposing survey of third line in 2011-12 fiscal. Third line will open the opportunities of starting new trains on this busy route. Not only this but it will also help traffic movement to continue at the time of accident.

It should be noted here that the ministry has also proposed Doubling surveys of Rajkot -Viramgam, Ahmedabad – Junagarh, Rajkot – Surendranagar and Ahmedabad – Palanpur in fiscal year of 2011-12.
