Modi had ‘changed’ Mohan Prakash’s political path ten years back

Congress spokesperson Mohan Prakash has been appointed as party’s high command of Gujarat state today. Interestingly 10 years back Mohan Prakash’s political life had major shift due to Gujarat only. In fact it was something related to Gujarat that brought Mohan Prakash into Congress party.

Mohan Prakash a hardcore Socialist was once with Janata Dal(United). He was party’s General Secretary and Spokerperson in late 90s.

However After Godhra train carnage and subsequent riots Mohan Prakash left his party which was at that time BJP led National Democratic Alliance’s partner in centre.

Prakash while leaving Janata Dal-U had told media persons that he was extremely unhappy over the communal carnage in Gujarat and the role played by the JD-U.

He had also said developments in Gujarat and the role played by Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee and Deputy Prime Minister L.K. Advani there amounted to negation of the spirit of freedom struggle and its values. Prakash had called upon all those who believe in Gandhian principles to oppose it under the leadership of Congress.

No surprise that Prakash later joined Congress party and was made party’s Spokesperson subsequently. Relatively low profile Prakash was lastly in limelight in recent past when he compared Rahul Gandhi with JayPrakash Narayan. This was disliked by the party.

Prakash is hardcore ‘secularist’. He addressed a rally of Christians in Jaipur protesting against then state government ruled by the BJP. He never misses an opportunity to speak with hate against Narendra Modi for what he believes Modi’s role in 2002 riots.

As Gujarat Congress’s Prabhari, he replaces B.K.Hariprasad. So if you thought that Hariprasad’s sansational statements against Modi government is past, you are wrong. Mohan Prakash may deliver even more lethal acid shots against Modi, and in favor of Socialist brand of ‘secularism.’
