Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh to visit Ahmedabad

Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh will be visiting the city of Ahmedabad on 26 March 2011 to attend the annual convocation ceremony of Indian Institute of Management here. IIMA is celebrating its 50th year of existence, thanks to which this year’s convocation function is special for everyone in the institute, and therefore the Prime Minister was invited to grace the convocation ceremony this year. The PM office has now accepted the invitation and confirmation has been arrived. The institute is busy in preparation of the historic event in its history.
According to IIMA spokesperson Ishita Solanki, while the Prime Minister will remain present as Chief Guest, the Chairman of ICICI Bank K V Kamath, an IIM-A alumni of 1971 PGP programme, will be the guest of honour on the occasion. It is expected that the Prime minister will have a photo shoot with graduating students followed by a ceremonial convocation procession. The Prime Minister who is also a renown Economist, will also deliver a convocation speech.
Dr Manmohan Singh, will be the third Prime Minister to preside over the IIM-A’s convocation function after Indira Gandhi in 1968 and P V Narsimha Rao in 1993.
As of now, it is now known whether there is any other place or event in Dr. Manmohan Singh’s itinerary during his Ahmedabad visit.
