The government of Gujarat will hire a liaison and public relation firm in Delhi for a period of one year. The government will spend Rs. 1 crore for this purpose in financial year 2011-12.
This detail is mentioned in state government’s recently announced annual budget draft.
A new item in budget draft of government’s Information and Broadcasting department states:”Efforts have been made to highlight Gujarat’s growth story , its rich cultural heritage and its famous pilgrim places at national level. For reaching international audience there is a need to appoint a liaison-cum-PR agency with Head Quarter at New Delhi to develop requisite publicity materials. Such an agency would be helpful in carrying out press liaison and publicity activities for building a brand image for the state of Gujarat and in inviting national and international media to the state. For this an annual outlay of Rs.1,00,00,000/- has been expected in the year 2011-12. Accordingly, it is proposed to provide an amount of Rs.1,00,00,000/- in the Budget Estimates in 2011-2012 for which this New item is proposed.”
It should be mentioned here that the government had hired a liaison-cum-PR firm for Vibrant Gujarat Global Business Summit in January this year.
