Is this how industries claim 85% employment to locals?

As per the Industry department’s rule, those units enjoying incentives given by Gujarat government have to provide 85% employment to local people. However it is well known that this rule is not followed in many cases.

A fresh incident that has come to light in heavily industrialized Hazira area of south Gujarat throws new light on this issue.

As per the locally published report, a vigilant group of villagers of Hazira road near Surat, this week caught a pair of advocate and notary red-handed issuing bogus affidavits to show outsiders as locals.

Locals from Vansava village of Hazira road raided advocate and notary near Reliance company’s gate in a small room.

The style of practicing this scandal was simple. A team of advocate and notary were making bogus affidavit on Rs. 20 stamp paper on the basis of which outsider worker could prove that he is actually a local villager. Such claim could help those companies not bothered to follow government’s rule. According to locals of Vansava village, hundreds of such bogus affidavits are issued already, on the basis of which the workers and their companies prove that they have employed enough locals as per the government rule.
