Whole night wait, one km long queue, lathicharge and black
Ahmedabad, 21 March, 2011

Ahmedabad is going to witness quarter final match of ICC cricket world cup 2011 on 24 March. The match will be played between India and Australia here at Sardar Patel international cricket stadium, Motera.
After tons of complains about non-availability of tickets and early closure of ticket windows yesterday, the youths today formed about one-km long queue at Motera stadium for their chance to get ticket. This long queue started from yesterday late evening, however today morning all tickets were sold just in fifteen minutes after opening of ticket windows!
Thus Hundreds of youths had to go back without getting tickets!
As Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi is President of Gujarat Cricket Association, there was no chance of protest, thanks to heavy police deployment that would not allow any youth to create even slightest ruckus. Some youths told media persons that they were beaten by police by lathis. Some alleged that simple bribe of Rs. 100 could fetch more than two ticket to person ready to pay extra. One person said he bought Rs. 100 worth of ticket at a price of Rs. 1200 while Rs. 150 ticket was available at a cost of Rs. 1800!
It should be mentioned here that most of the tickets of this match are procured by International Cricket Council(ICC) for sponsors and others in advance. Rest of the tickets are being sold by Gujarat Cricket Association in three-day span.
Meanwhile Indian cricket team reached hotel in Ahmedabad late in the evening on Monday.
