Gandhinagar, 22 March, 2011
The issue of shortage of tickets for the March 24 quarter final between India and Australia was today raised in the state assembly, with BJP MLA Devsinh Chauhan demanding special arrangement of tickets for the MLAs.
“With cricket euphoria building up in the city, I demand the sports minister to arrange tickets for the cricket match for the members of the house,” BJP MLA Devsinh Chauhan said, while speaking during discussion session on budgetary demands for Sports, Youth and Cultural Activities department.
Chief Minister Narendra Modi is the president for Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA), which owns the Motera stadium where the match will be played on March 24.
The GCA yesterday stated that tickets for the quarter final have been sold out.
There are long queues to get entry into over 48,000 capacity stadium as people had started lining up from last night for the high profile match after it became clear that India will play Australia, GCA had stated.
