Spice shots from Sardar Patel international cricket stadium

Enjoy some spice shots from Sardar Patel Motera cricket stadium, Ahmedabad.

-Mukesh Ambani was present to watch the match with his family. Film star Suniel Shetty was seen with Gautam Sindhania of Raymonds. Rahul bose was seen watching cricket with Film Director Vipul Mehta. Leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha Shri Arun Jaitley was seen with Congress MP Rajiv Shukla. Narendra Modi was of course there. Ghazal singer Pankaj Udhas was there. Amol Palekar was also seen watching cricket. Rajya Sabha MP Parimal Nathwani was in a role of host today as he is also the Vice President of Gujarat Cricket Association. He was constantly with Narendra Modi and occasionally with Mukesh Ambani. James Murdoch, son of media mogul Rupert Murdoch was also there in the stadium.

-Some banners were eye-catching. When Sachin was playing there was a banner saying: ‘shhhh … boss is at work’. And then there was a banner: ‘Sachin God of cricket, Modi God of Gujarat.’ Another interesting banner is presented above in photograph.

-As police was asked to check each and every person entering the stadium, there was a long long queue of thousands of people outside the stadium. Some people had to wait for couple of hours to get entry in stadium due to long queues.

-100 commandos of National Security Guard(NSG) guarded the cricket teams of India and Australia throughout their Ahmedabad visit. NSG commandos had state-of-the-art weapons. Local police had no knowledge of such weapons.

-Traffic jam before and after the match was predicted and it happened, but read what film actor Rahul Bose has to say on pre-match traffic jam of Ahmedabad match on Twitter: “Stuck in the worst pre-match traffic jam in modern history. On the road for 50 min. My estimate’s another 30min. Atleast aust are batting.”

-Apprehending a time consuming security checking, and mad rush, some cricket fans had arrived at the stadium in the morning itself, hours before 2.15 when match was to start. A big chunk of those coming from outside the state to watch the match was seen inside the stadium. Some were coming from Surat, some from Kutch, some from Junagadh, just to watch a cricket match!

-Cricket fans bought Indian tricolor from outside the stadium, however police didn’t allow to carry sticks carrying tricolor inside the stadium. Therefore all those who had bought tricolor had to carry it without stick.

-Though officially mobile phones were not allowed inside the stadium, many cricket fans could enter with mobile phones. Those with mobile phones were so much that the police couldn’t deny entry to all of them.

– Sounds of crackers were heard soon after India won the match, however victory processions by youths on the roads with bikes and tricolors didn’t happen. Perhaps the youths were saving their energy to do it all after India-Pakistan match next week.
