Gujarat Congress leaders meet Manmohan Singh on state issues
Ahmedabad, 26 March, 2011
Two delegations of Gujarat Congress leaders, central ministers, MPs and MLAs today called on Prime Minister Manmohan singh in Ahmedabad’s Circuit house.
A delegation of tribal Congress leaders from Gujarat met the Prime Minister and submitted a memorandum demanding Tribal University for Gujarat.
Leader of opposition Shaktisinh Gohil said:”Canal work is going on slowly in Gujarat thanks to Modiji, centre can give more money but the construction work should happen speedily, that’s what we have requested the Prime Minister.”
“We raised the issues of people. Also development issues of Gujarat were discussed, particularly the land issue, while common people don’t get land, priority is given mostly to big industry.”
MP Pravin Rashtrapal said: “Mahatma Gandhi NAREGA scheme’s monitoring committee meeting should be called by the state, but Gujarat has not called such meeting for last three years. Such committee tends to have MPs and MLAs of both parties, however because the state government doesn’t want to call Congress MPs and MLAs to the meeting, they have not convened any meeting in last three years.”
While Tribal delegation met the PM for 20 minutes, the Gujarat Congress leaders met him for 15 minutes.
