The photographs presented above are from Ahmedabad’s Muslim ghetto Gomtipur area where people today started attacking one Ambika guest house with stones, and set several vehicles parked outside on fire. Local people alleged they had to do such ‘halla bol’ because the hotel owners were operating prostitution. People said that Police was involved in this illegal activity, therefore they had to jump into direct action. Police faced tough time to control the crowds of locals with stones in hands. Tear gas shells were lobbed over the crowds on riot, and several persons were detained. One of the photos presented above shows a woman alleged to be involved in prostitution. She along with some other persons found inside the hotel were taken out of the premises under attack with full police protection. According to sources, that woman, and two owners of the hotel are arrested. Police has detained 12 persons involved in stone pelting. One fire fighter was badly attacked by rioters with stones, and glasses were broken.
