Modi’s Dahod programme puts Surat S.T. division in fix
Surat, 10 April, 2011
There’s news story in local newspaper of Surat today that the state administration has demanded 300 buses of Gujarat State Transport Corporation(GSRTC) to take people to Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s public meeting scheduled on 15 April in east Gujarat’s tribal district Dahod. The buses are to be used for movement of police force, officials, and largely the people. The demand has been put before Surat S.T. division by T.D.O of Surat and Tapi districts.
While providing buses for Chief Minister’s programme is routine affair for GSRTC, the problem this time is that the number is huge. Surat S.T. division has total 461 buses, and providing 300 of them to Modi will paralyze the operation drastically. Moreover the buses are sought not only for one day, but for three days – 14th, 15th and 15th of April.
Yesterday Chief Minister Modi was in Rapar(district Kutch) for launching of construction work of Narmada branch canal. To attend this function, an entire train full of Kutchis had arrived from Mumbai, and the train was named as ‘Narmada express’. In immediate future, there will be Pancha Shakti conventions at five places in Gujarat followed by Swarnim Gujarat concluding ceremony, Krushi Utsav and Garib Kalyan Mela. It is sure that GSRTC will have to be ready to offer buses for these events. But more the buses are demanded by state administration, more regular routes will be canceled and more the people will suffer.
