Gujarat No 1 in executing Industrial projects in last two decades:GOI

According to the annual report published by the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Commerce, Gujarat has been describe as the number one state in the nation in executing the industrial projects committed during post liberalisation period of 1991 to 2010 under Industrial Entrepreneur Memoranda(IEMs) in its December 2010 report.

According to the Ministry report, Gujarat has executed highest 1556 industrial projects during the period of August 1991 to December 2010 committed by IEMs. Maharashtra stood 2^nd, Andhra Pradesh stood 3^rd, west Bengal stood 4^th while Uttar Pradesh stood 5^th in rank.

According to the report in last 19 years the Gujarat has received investment of Rs. 86156 crore through 1556 projects and generated the employment for 223842 persons.

During the same period the Number 2 state Maharashtra received Rs.37765 crore of investment through 1532 projects implementation and generated more employment than Gujarat for 248386 persons.

The report in its highlights of DECEMBER 2010 noted that, in the delicensed sector, 376 Industrial Entrepreneur Memoranda (IEMs) with proposed investment of Rs 1,14,334 crore have been filed. Gujarat Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh were the leading States in terms of the Number of IEMs filed. However, in terms of amount of proposed investment through IEMs, the three leading states were Maharashtra, Orissa and Bihar.
