Unverified Gujarati prisoners languishing in Pakistani jail!
Gandhinagar, 21 April, 2011
While this is the story (link) of 89 Indian fishermen released by Pakistan who reached their homes in Gujarat today, the more interesting story is here on this link. This link would take you to a Pakistani newspaper report that tells the story of unverified Indian prisoners(many of them Gujaratis) who are not able to come back to India even after completion of their jail term in Pakistan. India’s four former judges(not a single former judge from Gujarat in this committee even after the fact that anytime in Pakistani jails 80% to 90% Indian prisoners are from Gujarat) are on visit to Pakistan to meet Indian prisoners there. They met one Rakesh from Gujarat in Karachi jail and they were shocked to know that Rakesh was unvarified prisoner. Indian committee talked with Rakesh’s brother(in Gujarat) via phone. The article mentions detail of another Gujarati prisoner from Kutch. The government should varify such Indian prisoners in Pakistani jails so that they can be released and come back to India.
