Ravishankar Prasad slams Diggy,PM,UPA in Ahmedabad

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today said that Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh has crossed all limits of decency.

“The more the likes of Digvijay Singh and Kapil Sibal open their mouths it is good for us (BJP). But I would like to say that Singh has crossed all limits of decency,” BJP spokesperson Ravishankar Prasad said responding to a question about recent comments made by Congress leader Singh.

“He has been chief minister of Madhya Pradesh for ten years. He is general secretary of the Congress party and is considered to enjoy support of Rahul Gandhi,” Prasad said.

“However, his three recent statements like calling Osama bin Laden -Osamaji-, branding Baba Ramdev a thug and statements on leader of opposition Sushma Swaraj are way beyond decency,” Prasad said.

“There has to be some decency in the democracy when you are opposing a person or an issue”, he said.

“This is the same man who had gone to the village of terrorist earlier”, he said.

Prasad criticized the Congress party-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government over a series of graft scams. He said that the Centre lacks transparency and has not been taking any initiative to bring back the black money stashed in foreign banks.

Prasad added that the scandals have erupted due to negligence of the government, and called the UPA, led by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the ‘most corrupt’ government since the country’s independence.

“It is increasingly becoming evident that the government of Manmohan Singh is the most corrupt government since independence. It’s not only that the BJP is saying this. Now, the media has also started calling the government corrupt. The reason is very evident. Nobody knows when a new scandal will come up. Scam after scam, scandal after scandal has become a defining feature of the Congress,” Prasad said.

Scams like the 19th Commonwealth Games, the Adarsh Housing Society, and the multi-billion dollar telecom scam has left the ruling Congress party caught on the wrong foot.

“The prime minister is working like the CEO of a company whose owners are not taking any responsibility. By owners I mean Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. He is leading a rudderless ship,” he said.

The BJP leader said in the present government “the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing as on one side government ministers including Pranab Mukherjee give a red carpet welcome to Ramdev, while on the other side the home minister P Chidambaram orders forceful evacuation of him and his supporters from Ramlila Maidan.”

Prasad announced that BJP will launch a nationwide agitation against the Congress-led UPA from June 23 to 26 protesting against the government’s action of evicting the yoga guru and his supporters from Ramlila Maidan where they were sitting on fast.

“As scams after scams are coming out of the closet and fight against corruption is being waged, the repressive character of this government is increasingly evident,” he said. .
