Palanpur, 29 June, 2011

While inaugurating the newly-built complex of Banas Dairy, Chief Minister Mr.Narendra Modi expressed resolve to bring about an economic revolution in the barren land of north Gujarat with the use of solar energy and the water of Narmada.
Chief Minister on Tuesday inaugurated a newly-built complex of the Banas dairy which has been constructed at the cost of Rs.110-crore. He also laid foundation stone for the 100-ton capacity milk powder plant of the dairy.
Criticizing the Central government for its anti-Gujarat mentality, Chief Minister said the water of Narmada can bring prosperity to the people of north Gujarat and the state government has already started constructing Narmada canals with the expense of Rs.9000-crore, but the Central government is not giving permission to put gates over the Sardar Sarovar dam from last two years even after the construction of the dam is over to its full height.
He said that the farmers of Gujarat immediately need DAP fertilizer but it seems the central government wants to ruin the Gujarat farmers as it has released only one lakh ton fertilizer in three months against the approved demand of 4.80 lakh ton. State government is ready to pay for it in advance but the central government does not leave a single opportunity to misguide the farmers, he said.
While criticizing the people who are siphoning Narmada water, Chief Minister said that it is one of the biggest sins and make the rain-God angry.
Chief Minister lauded the works undertaken by rural women and said that their contribution is crucial for the dairy industry.
Giving details of various initiatives Chief Minister said the state government has started the Kamdhenu University for imparting scientific training of animal husbandry to the people and to create a pool of trained individuals in the animal husbandry industry. The state government is organizing cattle health fairs consequently from last nine years. Due to the vaccination and other treatments the state government succeeded to extirpate 137 diseases out of about 169 animal diseases.
He congratulated those who are involved in the success of the Banas dairy and said the dairy’s business has reached to Rs.22000-cr from Rs.400-cr in last one decade due to the hard work of the three and a half lakh cattle keeping people of the district.
Chief Minister handed over a mobile laboratory van to the Banas dairy and gave Banas Lakshmi awards. A chaque of Rs.11-lakh was donated to the Kanya Kelavni Nidhi of the Chief Minister.
