Gujarat’s Agriculture Minister Dilip Sanghani will go on padyatra(walk) between Amreli and Bhurakhia Hanuman Mandir of Lathi with his supporters to pray Hanuman dada for rain in the state.
Sanghani said if ther’s no rain before 15 July, the farmers will be directed by his ministry to shift to another crop. He said normally Kharif sowing area use to be around 86.99 lakh ha in Gujarat every year on average. While last year by the end of the month of June the state witnessed 17.46 lakh ha kharif sowing, this year the figure is only 9.22 lakh ha so far. Thus compare to last year, this year only 10.60% sowing has been witnessed so far. Due to delayed and insufficient rain, most of the farmers have avoided sowing so far, therefore there’s no major damage estimated at this point.
