BJP to send Smriti Irani,Dilip Pandya to Rajya Sabha from Gujarat

According to sources, names of Smriti Irani and Dilip Pandya are finalized by the BJP for two Rajya Sabha seats of Gujarat.

Rajya Sabha election for three vacant seats of Gujarat is scheduled to be held on 22 July.

Congress has already decided to field Ahmed Patel for one seat.

Smriti Irani who became popular through a Hindi TV serial Kyunki saas bhi kabhi bahu thi, later joined the BJP. She is presently the President of national women cell of the party. She lives in Mumbai with her Parsi husband.

Dilip Pandya, 65 is old Jansangh worker from north Gujarat’s Siddhpur town. Pandya, a Brahmin is former President of Siddhpur Municipality.

Education: BSC, LLB from Bombay University

Profession: Lawyer. He is practiced in the courts of Siddhpur, Unjha, Patan, Mahesana, district and sessions court, subordinate court and revenue authority.
