The joint venture of Tata and BP solar, Tata BP, has bagged three large solar power projects which will account for excess of 30 megawatts. The project will be set up in Patan, Kutch and Mithapur.

The locations of the projects are very strategic since the western and northern parts of the state are majorly luminous. The size of the plant varies between 5 and 15 megawatt. Each solar power project will comprise of an array of solar photovoltaic modules of 230 watts and above, laid out in a modular combination to generate power from solar radiation and will be fed in to 66 KV lines of the Gujarat state electricity utility.

The power purchase agreements have been signed by the project owners with the Government of Gujarat for 25 years under which the solar power will be sold at Rs 15 for the first 12 years and Rs 5 for the next 13 years of the agreement.
