Release CST compensation amount urgently:Gujarat tells centre
Ahmedabad, 19 July, 2011
Minister of State for Finance Saurabh Patel today revealed yet another case of the UPA Government’s step-motherly treatment to Gujarat. It is the Centre not having paid Rs.1,400-crore for 2010-11 as compensation as 50 per cent of the CST as ad hoc payment to Gujarat.
Mr. Patel raised the issue at the meeting of Empowered Committee of State Finance Ministers in New Delhi, chaired by Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi.
The Gujarat Minister urged the Committee Chairman to urgently release the amount to Gujarat, which being a progressive state contributes huge amount to the Centre’s coffers.
