Giving its reaction on Maulana Vastanavi’s removal from the post of Vice Chancellor of Darul Uloom, the Gujarat BJP today said, removal of Vastanavi is though an internal matter of Uttar Pradesh based Darul Uloom, so far as Gujarat’s sentiments are concerned, one of the issues taken into consideration for removing him was his praise for Gujarat’s development.
Gujarat BJP spokerperson in a brief talk with media said, “Vastanavi praised Gujarat’s overall development under the leadership of Shri Narendra Modi and state’s policy of taking all classes together. Some pseudo secular elements created controversy out of that.”
“Gujarat’s any Muslim cleric is not there as a part of Deoband institution. Even then forty percent of Muslim clerics in Deoband have supported Vastanavi as per the reports. This indicates that the development in Gujarat is supported by 40% of nation’s Muslim clerics associated with Deoband who are not associated with Gujarat,” Bhavsar further said.
Vice-Chancellor of Darul Uloom, Maulana Ghulam Mohammed Vastanvi from central Gujarat, who had raised the hackles of conservatives by praising Narendra Modi, was on Sunday removed from his post by Majlis-e-Shura of the institution. Vastanvi had reportedly said that Muslims should forget the communal riots of past and move on with the development prevailing in Gujarat, and that the community did not face discrimination in Gujarat.
