According to a report published in section of media, Shiv Sena Supremo Balasaheb Thackeray has asked his party’s Councillors to see that Borivali(west) area’s chowk must not get a new name of ‘Uttar Gujarat chowk’.
Thackeray, believed to be biased against Gujarat and Gujaratis since beginning of his political career was reportedly angry over the fact that proposal of naming one chowk in Borivali area as ‘Uttar Gujarat chowk’ was passed in civic body. Thackeray reportedly asked his party leaders in Mumbai that how did they allow a proposal to name a chowk as ‘Uttar Gujarat chowk’? ‘What’s happening here?’ angry Thackeray reportedly asked his partymen.
Those present in this meeting held at Thackeray’s Matoshri residence were working President Uddhav Thackeray, party leader Liladhar Dake, Mayor Shraddha Jadhav, leader of the party in corporation Shri Sunill Prabhu, Standing Committee Chairman Rahul Shevale and party’s all Councillors. The meeting was called in view of forthcoming civic election.
Thackeray was of opinion that if ‘Uttar Gujarat chowk’ is allowed, tomorrow all ‘outsiders’ will start naming the chowks and roads before their states and regions. Interestingly the proposal to name this chowk as ‘Uttar Gujarat chowk’ was moved by BJP Councillor Pradip Shah. Therefore, no wonder if BJP and Shiv Sena exchange heat on this issue in future.
