KTS Tulsi withdraws from Sohrabuddin case on SC's direction

The Supreme Court today asked senior lawyer K.T.S. Tulsi to withdraw himself from the Sohrabuddin encounter case involving Gujarat’s former home minister Amit Shah.

Tulsi has agreed to withdraw as directed by the Supreme Court.

Tulsi was appearing for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the case in which Shah is accused of conspiring Sohrabuddin’s encounter.

The apex court said that since Tulsi had earlier appeared for Gujarat government in the same case in November 2007, he should not represent the CBI.

Tulsi, who had been roped in by the CBI to take up the case in 2009, agreed to withdraw.

Sohrabuddin and his wife Kausar Bi were gunned down in November 2005 in a joint operation by Gujarat Police and Rajasthan Police. The police had claimed that Sohrabuddin had links with Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT).

Meanwhile the Supreme Court will now hear CBI’s plea for canceling Amit Shah’s bail on 17th August.
