It should be mentioned that only one flight is presently operated from Surat airport every day while the city demands more. This one token flight connects Surat with Delhi, but charges double compare to flights operating on nearby Mumbai-Delhi or Rajkot-Delhi route.

Local BJP MP C.R.Patil has alleged that recently when Deccan360 wanted to operate several flights from Surat to different destinations in Gujarat, it was the central government’s ‘anti-Gujarat’ approach that played spoiler role and the central govt threatened the company to withdraw from its plan. Therefore even the tent for inauguration function of proposed service had to be uprooted.
