Rajkot district’s Fareni village will adopt a new name officially this Sunday. The village’s new name will be Fareni(Swaminarayan). Renaming of this village has been approved by central Home ministry, and district Collector has completed all necessary procedure in this regard.

Fareni has connection with Lord Swaminarayan of Swaminarayan sect. The name ‘Swaminarayan’ got manifestation in a small village named ‘Fareni’. On the 14th day after Ramanand Swami passed away, Sahajanand Swami declared, in the assembly at Fareni village, “Devotees, I was named ‘Ghanshyam’ at Chhapaiya by my parents. Markendaya Hrishi (sage) named me ‘Hari, Krishna, Hari Krishna. Sanyasis in the forests called me ‘Nilkanth’. Muktanand Swami named me ‘Sarjudas’ at Loej. Ramanand Swami at the time of initiation gave me two names; ‘Sahajanand’ and Narayan Muni’. Today I declare my name to be ‘SWAMINARAYAN’. Therefore, worship the name ‘Swaminarayan’ from today onwards.” Then Muktanand Swami, other saints etc. chanted incessantly the name ‘Swaminarayan’ in the assembly. The sect “Swaminarayan’ came into being.
