The academy was launched by Gujarat Cricket Association’s Vice President and Rajya Sabha MP Shri Parimal Nathwani.
“Amish Saheba has long experience, but every person has to retire one day due to age limitation. GCA President Narendra Modi who takes deep interest in GCA affairs, wished that Amish Saheba should provide coaching to youngsters, so that the state continues to get more Amish Sahebas in future,” said Shri Parimal Nathwani adding that suitable candidates could be event sent to Australia for further coaching if needed.
Rinkal Zalavadia is one of the students of new academy. She says, “I am from Maninagar Science college. As soon I came to know about this academy I joined it to get authentic training.”
“We are preferring youngsters as students of this academy, so that we can train them for long duration and bright youths can come out as final product in about 10 year span,” said Saheba.
Saheba added that till now 300 applications are received from Ahmedabad, 75 from Valsad, 45 each from Gandhiangar and Banaskantha. In total 500 applications are registered. This includes 10 applications of women.
In reply to one question, Shri Nathwani said that BCCI or ICC have not given any rank to GCA and propaganda that GCA has been placed at 8th rank is baseless. Gujarat Cricket Association has been on top and will continue to be on top when it comes to the game of cricket.
