13 names recommended for appointment as Additional Judges in Gujarat HC

The Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court has recently recommended the names of nine advocates and four judicial officers for appointment as Additional Judge in the Gujarat High Court. Mr. Salman Khurshid, the union minister of law and justice informed the Rajya Sabha today in response to a question from member Mr. Parimal Nathwani.
Mr Nathwani wanted to know about the names recommended by Gujarat High Court during the last three years, details of the names accepted and rejected and reasons for their acceptance or rejection.
The minister said that the Chief Justice of the High Court had in 2009 recommended the names for appointment as judges and the notification was issued on 14th February 2011. The names are accepted and rejected on the grounds of suitability; and approved by the competent authority, the minister added.
