Rajathan BJP today demanded the recall of Gujarat Governor Kamla Beniwal on the ground of her alleged involvement in irregularities as pointed out by the state Lokayukta report for 1993-96 when she was a minister in Rajasthan in 1990.
Referring to Rajasthan Lokayukta”s 14th final report (1993-1996) obtained through RTI, BJP state spokesperson Sunil Bhargava said the report mentioned that Supreme Court had in a case (Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) v/s DM Jain etc.) in 1996 extracted a part of preliminary inquiry report of the Lokayukta which said Kamla, the then Urban Development and Housing Minister and JDA Chairman, and some officials allegedly misused their official positions to favour a few highly-placed individuals and caused wrongful gain to them and loss to JDA and public at large.
Bhargava said no inquiry could be initiated against Beniwal by the Lokayukta because she was no longer a public servant in 1993.
She was the state UDH minister till 1990.
