Kutch district Congress President Veljibhai Humbal(VK Humbal) was today sent to jail after local court refused him a bail. Bhanushali was arrested yesterday by district’s Anjar police.
Humbal is facing charge of forcefully taking Rs. 30.16 lakh from a company involved in erecting Mundra-Bhatinda pipeline. He is also facing charge of cheating. He was arrested yesterday at Surajbari check post, an exit point of Kutch when he was leaving the district.
According to Shri Bharatsinh Parmar, Police sub Inspector of Anjar, Shri Ajaykumar Chhotelal Ratan(originally from Delhi, but presently settled in Gandhidham, Kutch), Vice President of Kalptaru power transmit private limited is supervising the Mundra-Bhatinda pipeline work. On 12 September, he had filed complaint against Kutch district Congress president V.K.Humbal(resident of Bhimar in Kutch) alleging that Humbal took 30.16 lakh rupees forcefully on the basis of fake documents, and that he created obstruction in pipeline work for number of times.
According to detail of case against Humbal, btween 20 August 2010 and 24 January 2011, he obstructed the Mundra-Bhatinda pipeline work for number of times through fake signature of sarpanch of gram panchayat. He forced the company to sign Rs. 20.16 lakh cheque in the name of Bhimasar vikas trust. Humbal and his relatives are trustees of this trust. According to complaint, Humbal also collected Rs. 10,16,400 from the company in the name of Bhimasar gram panchayat though he was not a member of gram panchayat. Thus the total sum of cheating in police complaint is Rs 30,16,400. Investigating this case, Police checked the signature and letter pad involved in this case.
After police complaint was lodged, Humbal told media persons that he would give detail account of spending from his trust. He added that the company had to pay more compensation to farmers in Lunva, Moti chirai, Bhimasar, Ajapar and Pasvariya due to his pressure and that was the real reason behind the complaint filed against him.
Meanwhile Kutch Congress’s working President Shailendrasinh Jadeja alleged that this case was fabricated to prevent Humbal fighting next assembly election from Anjar. Jadeja also alleged that Humbal was on the way to Ahmedabad in connection with anticipatory bail plea, but some BJP workers didn’t want him to get success in this and therefore police was used as tool.
Humbal had lost last assembly election from Anjar. He was Congress party’s district president then too. Congress had lost five out of six seats in the district.
