Ahmedabad based design baron Umang Hutheesing today launched his royal durbar collection at his Haveli in Ahmedabad with grand event attended by city’s socialites and corporate honchos among others. The event was organized today to mark world heritage day. The same collection was showcased in Paris last year.

A grand courtyard at Hutheesing haveli was lit up to mark the launching event of royal durbar collection. The collection presents rich brocades, silk and velvets with delicate chiffon and shimmers of the royal era. Hutheesing’s Maharaja collection is rich with silk kurtas, achkans, sherwanis and chogas. There’s also a sports collection. Grand sarees, Kalidar ghaghras and anarkalis, richly gathered gheras, bandis and blouses accenturated with odhanas and dupattas all richly embellished for today’s maharanis.

“It was 1911 that King George V and Queen Mary visited India. The Gateway of India was built to commiserate this visit and the grand durbar was held in Delhi to celebrate this event. Today’s exhibition re-lived this moment in history. The darbar saw some of the most well-dressed princes and maharanis of India,” said Umang Hutheesing, President of Hutheesing Design Company.
