Congress gets venue for counter-fast in Junagadh

Junagadh, 21 December 2011

Gujarat Congress has got permission to hold counter fast against Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s Sadbhavana mission fast in Saurashtra’s Junagadh city.

The district Collector has permitted to hold counter-fast at deaf and dumb school ground to district unit of Congress party.

Junagadh is the city where Congress party is in power in civic body. However assembly is represented by BJP MLA.

Meanwhile Jawahar Chavda, Congress MLA from Saurashtra has asked Modi to answer, why Sorath region has still not received Rs 600 crore package as promised by the Chief Minister just before the election of Junagadh Municipal Corporation.

Chavda said Modi announced Rs 600 crore for Sorath just before the JMC election, but after the election when Congress party came to power in Junagadh, Mr. Modi has forgotten his promise.

It should be noted here that at the end of every district-level Sadbhavana fast, Narendra Modi announces a package of few hundred crores for development of that district. However in Junagadh, while delivery of earlier announced package is in question, it would be interesting to see how Modi announces another package during his speech.
