Gandhinagar, 14 April 2013
Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Narendra Modi will inaugurate the newly constructed ministers’ block in the New Secretariat Complex here on Monday, April 15, 2013 at 3.30 p.m.
The secretariat’s senior Class-IV tribal employee Savjibhai Valjibhai Damor will perform the auspicious task of lighting the ceremonial lamp on the occasion in special presence of Roads & Building Minister Anandiben Patel.
The new block, christened ‘Swarnim Sankul-1’, has four storeys in addition to ground floor and basement for about 1,000 staff of all categories to work at a time. It will have ministers’ chambers and offices for their staff, conference rooms for Secretaries, administrative office, data centre and waiting lounge as a single-window facility for the public to ensure they do not have to wait for long.
It is not a bullet-proof building, nor the walls, glass windows of the lift. It has minimum security features in place. It is constructed in such a way that allows maximum sunlight and ventilation.
The work on the other ministers’ block, ‘Swarnim Sankul-2’, is in progress. Both the blocks have been designed keeping the best environmental aspects in mind.
