CBI acting as private militia of congress:BJP on Sadiq Jamal case

New Delhi, 10 November 2013

Following is BJP’s statement on CBI’s handling of Sadiq Jamal encounter case:

CBI is acting as a private militia of congress party in so far as the Sadiq Jamal Mehtar case is concerned. The whole case is a political conspiracy to discredit the anti terror machinery of central and state government.

Congress sponsored Human rights activists claim that even if they were terrorists, do they need to be killed? That is not true; these terrorists had engaged with the police in a gun battle and got killed.

Sadiq Jamal Mehtar, residing in Dubai, was originally a resident of Bhavnagar and had gone to Mumbai where he came in contact with the underworld. In Dubai, he was staying with Tariq Parveen, who was originally a resident of Mumbai. Parveen was Chhota Shakeel’s brother-in-law and closely associated with Dawood Ibrahim. Dawood’s brother Anees and Shakeel’s confidant Salim Chiplun used to visit Jamal in Dubai. Meanwhile, Jamal had seen on television channels the news regarding incidents of communal violence in Gujarat that had erupted after the Godhra carnage. On seeing such incidents, he had made up his mind to kill Narendra Modi.

IB is an arm of the central government not state government therefore Gujarat Government has nothing to do with it. All intelligence inputs are vetted by IB head quarters before passing over to the state for action and in this case the input came from the former IB officer, who is the Deputy National Security Advisor. Therefore the concerned IB officer cannot be blamed and hounded in the manner he is being subjected to now.

Every IB report which is wrong has never lead to any conspiracy or prosecution in the past, then why is it that this case is handpicked.

Congress states thrive only on fake encounters. They think the whole world is like them, that’s why they are targeting Gujarat government.

BJP stands for the impartial and efficient functioning of the security agencies. Congress party attempt to attack opponents by abusing the CBI is very unfortunate.

CBI being far lower in rank and status to the IB which specifically investigates into the aspects of internal security, and is also credited as the world’s oldest intelligence agency is being questioned on aspects of proprietary only to further the political ambitions of the congress party.

Under the protocol DIB is the head of police agency and is responsible for the counter terrorism act, which is not the mandate of the CBI. Can anyone imagine that Naval Seal operation being questioned SBI and then by CIA? The recent acts of the Congress party show the mindset where it is working in a conerated manner to sabotage the security apparatus of the country

Questions to be asked

Q 1. Does CBI have the mandate to question and probe into IB’s working?

Q 2. Will the CBI now also question the Prime minister on this issue, since the IB comes under the PMO?

Q 3. Can the input of IB be questioned at this stage after so many years have passed by?

Q 4. Is the timing of this probe by CBI not questionable, when elections are round the corner?

Q 5. Why should the credibility and wisdom of IB be put to question?

Seeking a ban on opinion Polls restricts freedom of speech, congress can seek a ban on opinion polls, not on the ‘Modi wave’

The recent official statement to Election Commission by Congress seeking a ban on opinion poll is not only unconstitutional but also restricts the freedom of speech of the media and the citizens of the country. The validity of an opinion poll may or may not be reliable in a country as diverse as India. However, banning of the entire process only seeks to curtail the freedom of expression. Instead of focusing on the policies and issues that have been plaguing the entire country, the move is Congress’ attempt to muffle the voice of the country where the anti-congress wave is apparent.

The Congress has in the past supported opinion polls in the 2004 and 2009 General Elections and 2013 Karanataka state assembly elections. Various opinion polls have recently projected BJP Prime Ministerial Candidate, Narendra Modi to be ahead of Congress’ Vice President Rahul Gandhi in the upcoming General Elections in 2014. It is for this reason that Congress is now against opinion polls fearing it would drive the undecided candidates to vote in favour of the BJP.

It is a matter of grave concern that while the 18-page report titled ‘Modi-fying our View: Raise India to Marketweight’ has upgraded India’s economic view after Modi wins the elections in 2014, Indian Ministers like Anand Sharma have acted like Congress spokespersons to oppose the report. Instead of looking at the wider picture in times of such economic slug in the country, the pessimism portrayed by these ministers raises serious questions about their idea of India.

This is not the first time that Congress is seeking to curtail the freedom of expression. During the various agitations in the recent past like the Ramdev agitation and the Nirbhaya case youth agitation, Congress was at the receiving end of criticism through Social Media. Instead of showing concern even then, the party had blocked people from the social media platform. The recent Information and Broadcasting Ministry advisory to media about not comparing the projected Prime Ministerial candidate and the sitting Prime Minister’s speeches is another attempt on the same road to muzzle the voices of the citizens.

The Congress is so obsessed with the Nazis and their ideology that they are now resorting to fascist ideas such as banning the media, press and opinion polls. The entire episode is taking us down the 1975 road when dictatorship was imposed on the citizens of the country in name of emergency. The barbaric mindset may compel them to suppress everything that is not in their favour, but changing the voice of the citizens and banning the ‘Modi wave’ would be a difficult task to achieve.
