Storm, heavy shower in Ahmedabad and other areas of Gujarat, five dead in Ahmedabad, CM holds meeting

The city of Ahmedabad on Sunday evening witnessed mini storm in the evening for a few minutes at around 6.00 pm. The wind in north-south direction was so strong that banners were flying and trees felled down at several places. Light drizzle soon converted into thunderstorm.

Heavy rain with wind brought traffic to halt and affected normal life on Sunday evening. It has to be mentioned that the morning and the afternoon period was just normal like any other hot summer day. The atmosphere changed in late afternoon with presence of dark clouds in sky. The peak time of thunderstorm was around 6.00 pm. Shower halted at around 6.35.

Hailstorm was witnessed in parts of Saurashtra including Rajkot, Chotila, Dhari etc places. Parts of north Gujarat, Kutch, Saurashtra also witnessed shower, strong wind and hail storm.

-Tent of vacation fair at GMDC ground collapsed.
-Kankaria lake front based helium balloon collapsed.
-Pilot Baba event tent collapsed in New Maninagar area.
-Those trapped in Dev Arc mall lift rescued by fire brigade.
-Advani continued his road show in adverse atmosphere.
-Around two dozen incidents of tree felling, hoarding collapse and car/house damaged due to trees.
-Five persons are reported dead in Ahmedabad due to tree falling, electric current, lightening strike.
-Two persons are reported dead in north Gujarat due to tree falling on bike.
-Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi held a meeting with Chief Secretary and Relief Commissioner at Ahmedabad airport.
