A vessel sank three years back in the Arabian sea near Jakhau port of Gujarat was brought back to surface this week after two months of hard work. The task was important as one important route connecting Jakhau port remained unused due to this vessel buried in the sea.
A vessel from Goa carrying 2300 tonne cement sank in the Arabian Sea 5 nautical miles away from Jakhau after its engine suffered problem in low water. Bouyes were put around the vessel to prevent accident later on, but that had made one important channel connecting Jakhau port non-functional.
After over two months efforts, the vessel was pulled out of water using heavy duty cranes. Through the help of another ship, it was brought to jetty where hundreds of locals gathered to watch it.
