Ahmedabad
Jagdish Patel panel is winner in Rajpath Club election and it can take charge. This was clearly stated by Gujarat High Court today.
The High Court further said that Jagdish Patel panel can take charge of board and if they are stopped to do so, it will be considered contempt of court.
The High Court observed that results declared yesterday are proper.
From Paresh Dani panel, Sandip Brahmbhatt stated that their panel seeks recounting. Brahmbhatt also sought Court to put stay on implementation of results so that they can go to Supreme Court to seek recounting. Court in response to this allowed Brahmbhatt to go to Supreme Court but refused to give any stay.
It should be mentioned here that out of 30 posts of Board of Directors for which election were held recently, the Jagdish Patel panel candidates won 27 posts while rival ruling Paresh Dani panel won only 3 posts. Dani was not giving election earlier and rivals had to go to court to seek election. The High Court had appointed retired Justice Mehta to conduct the election. Even counting was held by High Court staff under supervision of six lawyers and retired High Court Justice. However when Dani panel tasted defeat, it sought recounting and canceled the Annual General Meeting. Not only this, but they refused to declare the results. It was Gujarat High Court which then declared the results on its website.
Update: Jagdish Patel was elected President of Rajpath Club in a meeting held in presence of 27 winning candidates of his panel. Dani panel’s 3 winning candidates were absent in this meeting. The meeting of winning panel was held outside the board room of Rajpath Club as outgoing President Paresh Dani whose panel tasted worst defeat refused to hand over charge to Jagdish Patel panel saying that the matter is being taken to Supreme Court. Dani didn’t give key of board room to Patel panel due to which Patel panel had to conduct meeting outside board room. Dani panel may face contempt of court case if it continues to refuse to accept its defeat.
Further updates:

They also shouted slogans against outgoing President Paresh Dani for not handing over charge to winning panel even after High Court’s clear directives. Lately police also intervened and managed to vacate the President’s office. Winning panel’s elected head Jagdish Patel later took charge of President’s post in office.
