Pankaj Patel shares details of soon-to-open Zydus Hospital in Ahmedabad

Gujarat Chief Minister will inaugurate Rs. 550 crore Zydus hospital near Sola over bridge on SG Highway of Ahmedabad on 1st May.

Speaking to reporters in Vadodara, Zydus group head Pankaj Patel said that hospital is not medical clinic for the group but it is an institute to offer service.

“We have brought all latest technology to this facility from abroad. We will offer medical services at a cost that is affordable to middle class. The facility is spread over 7.5 lakh sqft land. The building has been constructed in 22 months period. It is a 20 storeyed building with 550 bed. The institute in future will have 2,000 bed,” Patel said.

He added that the hospital will have organ transplantation service. It will have best facilities for doctors.

Patel said, “when I was young we didn’t have healthcare facilities. I founded cancer society therefore which is functioning well. Later I was behind a hospital for poor people through public private partnership. Later I thought, why not to serve middle class people? Why can’t we take latest medial facilities to Gujarat? With this idea we built hospitals first in Vadodara and now in Ahmedabad. It’s not hospital but an institute. It will be not hospital but an institute. Zydus hospital will be known by its performance. It will not be a hospital of reach. It will serve all. We will make chain of hospitals in Gujarat first and later will expand it to other states.”

Business ehad of Zydus hospital Dr. VN Shah said the hospital will have infection free environment.

The hospital will have 162 bed ICU(specialty) unit, 40% bed for poor patients, 32,000 sqft OPD, 4,500 sqft central supply department and 10 bed ICU with day-care facility.

It will have two isolation wards with support of ICN on wheels support, 16 bed emergency room, ‘Namaste’ welcome to patients and visitors, a team of 200 MBBS doctors, 8 out of 18 lifts reserved for patients, lifts with bed to avoid stretcher and wheel chair, negative press isolation room, interconnected departments for smooth access, air ambulance facility to be launched shortly, day care ICU, cardiothoracic ICU, emergency treatment for brain stroke and clotting, the latest technology for 3 minute angiography, dialysis facility for 25 persons at one go, separate facility for HIV patients, modular operation theaters, transplant facility for heart, kidney, pancreas, lever.

The facility will be able to complete operation for stroke patients in 4 hours instead of conventional practice that takes 48 hours. It will have 256 slice CT scan machine, gem stom spectral imagic technology, CT fluoroscopy for Onco diagnostic, separate arrangements for cardiac care, valve implant and stroke patients. The facility will have smart service apartment for more than two relatives of patient who need to stay in hospital.

Patel promised one point billing system with 100% transparency. He said, “generally in cases of angiography, organ replacement etc when a patient is admitted to hospital, he finds gradual increase in his billing amount, but in Zydus hospital once the patient is checked and he is briefed about his package, he will not face any further charge. If there are complications or suppose if he needs to stay for five days in hospital instead of two, he will not have to pay charge of extra three days. A patient will get discharge at any time. He will not be compelled to stay in hospital till doctor’s visit.”
