Bhadar river bridge on Porbadnar-Veraval highway collapses

Over two dozen years old highway bridge connecting Porbandar and Veraval in coastal Saurashtra collapsed early in the morning today. The bridge suffered crack in middle part and its road surfaced collapse and touch water. Traffic on this stretch was diverted to interior villages on both sides of river. This caused traffic jam and delay. The river bridge is located on river Bhadar. None is injured in this incident and there has been no damage to any vehicle. But the bridge will need reconstruction and it will cause terrific problem to traffic on this stretch that connects Dwarka and Somnath via Porbandar, Mangrol and Veraval. More details are awaited. -The bridge is located 25 kms away from Narvai Mata Mandir.

-100 ft portion has collapsed in ‘V’ shape.

-Traffic fro Somnath side was stopped near Navi Bandar, while traffic from Porbandar was stopped at Virbhun Khambhi.

-The bridge was constructed in year 1991.

-The incident of collapse came to light when someone on vehicle called Fire Brigade.
