Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has lately sealed a sports complex of Karnavati Club on SG Highway in Ahmedabad. The Sports complex was built without permission of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation(AMC). It was to be opened on 1st May. Karnavati Club has also been in controversy for construction of Golden Glory hall on government land.

The club spent crores of Rupees for construction of Sport Complex and even decided its opening on 1st May. However no plan approval was sought from the AMC for this complex. Even Building Use permission was not sought.

As a result, AMC had slapped notice under BPMC Act section 260(1) and asked the club to reply in 7 days period. However, Karnavati Club didn’t reply the notice, and produced no document to claim legality of structure. Karnavati Club however continued to go ahead with ongoing work at the Sports Complex.

Today morning, a team of AMC arrived at the club and sealed the structure.

In a meeting of members of Club, a decision was taken that in future no construction would be started by club without AMC’s permission.
