AMC bans plastic cups, bags, pan/masala wrappers

Department of Health, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation(AMC) has banned production, storage, transportation and usage of low quality plastic cups, bags, pan/masala packing wrappers across the city with effect from 1st May 2015. Commercial units, food stalls, tea shops, pan masala parlor and others found using such plastic cups, bags and wrappers will face legal actions under Plastic waste(management and handling) rules – 2011 and GPMC act. These details were shared by Municipal Commissioner in a statement issued to media.
